FUR II I0NEER DIES Mrs. Lillian Shields Practiced In East Bay 40 Years Dr. Lillian Shields, 71, one of the first woman doctors to prac tice in the West, died yesterday at her home, 121 Wildwood Gar dens, Piedmont. An advocate of the need for women general practicioners, she functioned in that capacity for nearly forty years in the Eastbay area. She was a resident physi cian of Fablola Hospital for several years following graduation from Cooper Medical College in 1902.

A son, James G. Shields, Piedmont, and a daughter, Mrs. Leola W. Robertson, with whom she lived, survive. The funeral will be held at the Albert Brown Untertaking 3476 Piedmont Avenue, Sat urday at 2 p.
