FLINT, MICH. - Mrs. Verlene Levonne Young Parker, 66, formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at her residence. Funeral arrangements will be made by Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home in Flint, Michigan.

Darrell Studdard

Darrell David Studdard, Sr., 63, of Pine Bluff, Ark., passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the John L. McCellan Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born September 22, 1954, in Pine Bluff, to William David and Mary Cathryne Hankins Studdard.

He was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.

Darrell served in the United States Navy. He worked 30 years for Ikon Solutions as a service technician. He enjoyed the Razorbacks and deer hunting. He was a great person, along with being a caring and loving husband. He was a member of Whispering Pines Cowboy Church and the Masonic Lodge, Jacob Brump Lodge #160.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Eakins Studdard, whom he married on July 10, 1976, in Pine Bluff; sons, Darrell Studdard, Jr. of Hensley, Christopher Studdard of Austin; daughters, Sherri Miller of Lake Charles, La., Stacy James of Berryville; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Rick Studdard of White Hall; sisters, Joy Waterson of Pine Bluff and Deborah K. Graves of Star City.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 1, 2017, 3 – 6 PM, at Whispering Pines Cowboy Church.

Funeral service will be Monday, October 2, 2017, 1 PM, at Whispering Pines Cowboy Church in Pine Bluff with Reverends Wes Sparks and James Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Trucksville (Cleveland County).

Bobby Roberts, Sr.

WHITE HALL - Bobby J. Roberts Sr., 80, of White Hall passed away, September 28, 2017.

He was born August 7, 1937, to the late Robert Lee Roberts and Maxine Bowlin.

After 37 years of service, Bobby retired from International Paper where he worked in finishing and shipping. Nicknamed “BR549” he served as president of the Local Union 1731.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Anderson; one brother, Olen Akines.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Harriet Ann Honsinger Roberts; son, Bobby James Roberts Jr. (Angela); daughters, Beth Michael, and Carla LeGros; son in law; Gil Anderson; grandchildren; Jason Michael (Brenda), Samantha Michael, Justin Roberts (Libby), Derek Roberts (Jessica), Dusty Anderson (Anjuli), Sam Anderson (Hannah), Susan LeGros and Josh LeGros; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Dugan Roberts, Troy Roberts, and Arlie Akines; sister, Susan Schrek; numerous other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday October 3, 2017, at Ralph Robinson and Son, with Visitation beginning at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lawanda Finley

Lawanda Ann Bennett Finley, age 74, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

Born December 15, 1942 at Star City, she was a daughter of the late George Hardy Bennett and Ethel Mabelle Bennett. She was reared and educated in Dumas.

Lawanda was a homemaker and a wonderful caregiver to all her loved ones.

Her husband of 56 years, Charles Herbert “Cat” Finley, preceded her in death on August 11, 2015. Also predeceasing her are a daughter, Angela Harrell; three brothers, Richard, Carroll Wayne, and Mike Bennett; and two sisters, Brenda Diane and Bonnie Louise Bennett.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Nguyen (Giao) and Tonya Eheman; a brother, George Carroll Bennett; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 2, 2017, 2 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Rev. Edgard Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in New Owen Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Voy Weatherford, Sr.

GRIFFITH SPRINGS - Voy Edward Weatherford, Sr., 82, of the Griffith Springs Community died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Lincoln Heights Healthcare. He was born January 22, 1935 in Cornerville, Ark. to the late Earl and Evie Weatherford. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Griffith Springs, where he has been very active since 1954. He was retired from Wheeling Machines in Pine Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Gerald Weatherford, Desmond (Boots) Weatherford and Hollis Weatherford.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Marzee Owen Weatherford; 3 sons, Voy E. (Jane) Weatherford, Jr., Kim (Lawana) Weatherford and Dana (Ann) Weatherford; 6 grandchildren, Michelle (Jarrett) Ross, Amanda (Michael) Bolen, Michael Weatherford, Chris (Michelle) Weatherford, Ross Weatherford, Olivia Weatherford and Baylee Weatherford; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bernice Matthews and Marilyn Cook; and 2 brothers, Harvey Weatherford and Russell Lee Weatherford.

Graveside services are 4 PM Sunday, October 1, 2017 at New Owen Cemetery with Bro. Elmer Byerly officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
