MINNEAPOLIS GAS COMPANY 739 Marquatta Avanu Minneapolis 2, Minnesota Common Stock Dividend Th Board of Directors of Minneapolis Gas Company, at a meeting held on July 1949, declared a dividend of 20c per share payable In cash on August 10, 1949, to common stockholders of record at the close of business July 25, 1949.

H. K. WRINCH, President employs 280 men in its Brunswick and Idaho-Maryland properties on a day's pay and contract basis. Contract miners make $15 to $20 daily. The ledge in the Idaho is said to vary in width from 20 to 30 feet, with most of the ore good milling grade.

It was discovered in a virgin section of the old producer late in 1948. President Edwin Letts Oliver reported recently that earnings had been increased this year by leasing operations. The company is milling about 600 tons of ore daily, with the product averaging close to $9 a ton. Gold Washers to Move River MARYSVILLE, July 17 (Exclusive) Yuba Consolidated Gold-fields, California's leading gold producer, is operating 10 power ful dredgers and steadily expand ing activities. The company dredged 344 acres during the fiscal year ending Feb.

28, 1949, recovered 96,571 ounces of fine gold and reported net earnings of $317,377. High cost of operations cut deeply into profits, with the labor pay scale now 55 above the 1941 rate. Seven dredg ers are operated in the Yuba River field near Marysville, two along Butte Creek in Butte County, and one in the Callahan area of Siskiyou County. The company holds a 50 in terest in Round Mountain Gold Dredging which expects to start large-scale operations in October on gold placers at Round Mountain, Nev. Yuba Consolidated has approximately 5100 acres considered suitable for (Sredging and is preparing to re-dredge 5000 acres in the Yuba River field to a depth of 124 feet.

This project includes cutting a channel averaging 600 feet in width for the Yuba River, with the stream to be diverted from its bed for about a half mile. Re- dredging operations are expected to continue more than 20 years, with diversion of the river facilitating mining of large amounts of virgin gravel. Douglas of Huntington Park, a junior engineering student at Montana School of Mines, made the honor roll of that institution last week with a scholarship index of 2.50. Top scholarship score of 3.00 was made by Robert T. Taylor of Butte. That is the highest rating possible. There is great rivalry for place on the honor roll because advanced scholarships are awarded to students who are highest on the list.
