Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 8035 – The Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024.

“It is irresponsible to send another $60 billion (on top of the $113 billion we have already sent) to fund the war in Ukraine, when our own border remains wide open and our national debt is nearing $35 trillion,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.

Before the vote, Brecheen appeared on Fox News to discuss his opposition to sending more of our tax dollars to Ukraine without securing our own border.

MANHATTAN, Kan.– Oklahoma State dropped its second game of the series against Kansas State Saturday as the 15th-ranked Cowboys took a 7-2 loss at Tointon Family Stadium.

With the loss, OSU fell to 25-14 and 10-7 in Big 12 play, while the Wildcats improved to 24-14 and 9-8 in the conference.

The setback marks OSU’s first series loss to Kansas State since 2010.

Ian Daugherty homered and had two hits for the Cowboys, while Carson Benge was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Brian Holiday took the loss on the mound to fall to 3-3. The right-hander worked six innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out seven.

K-State took the game’s initial lead in the second on a leadoff home run to right field by Raphael Pelletier, his eighth homer of the season.

Pelletier did it again in the fourth, leading off that inning with another solo shot to put the Wildcats up 2-0.

After being shut out and held to just one hit over the first 5 1/3 innings by K-State right-hander Jackson Wentworth, the Cowboys cut their deficit in half on Daugherty’s fifth homer of the season, a pinch-hit blast over the left field wall.

K-State got the run back and then some in the bottom of the inning. This time it was a double by Pelletier that got things starter, and he would score a single by David Bishop to put the home team up 3-1. The Wildcats added to their lead on a two-run homer by Jaden Parsons to go up by four.

The Wildcats added two more runs in the seventh, with OSU’s final run coming on a double by Benge in the eighth.

Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch.

Madron’s career day leads OU to fourth sweep

PROVO, Utah— Oklahoma baseball completed the three-game sweep of BYU Saturday in Provo with a 10-7 win to push its win streak to seven straight.

The Sooners have swept four conference series for the first time since the Big 12’s inception in 1996 and sit alone at the top of the Big 12 standings with a 14-4 record in conference play.

Senior Bryce Madron powered the charge with a career day, hitting two home runs and a double, batting in a career-best seven runs. It was the most RBI for a Sooner since Cale Ellis had seven vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2010.

The Sooners scored early and often, starting with three runs on four hits at the top of the first. A leadoff double from freshman Jason Walk set up Madron for his first home run of the day on a two-run shot to right center. Redshirt senior Michael Snyder then doubled and fellow senior Anthony Mackenzie doubled him home with a knock to left to make it 3-0 before the Cougars had their first at-bat.

BYU would plate a pair in the home half of the first on a double to right field. OU would get both runs back at the top of the second, courtesy Madron again. The senior outfielder sent his second two-run home run over the right center wall for his second blast in as many at-bats. It marked the first back-to-back homer game of his career.

The Cougars would tie the contest at five at the bottom of the second on a run-scoring double and pair of RBI singles. OU starting LHP Grant Stevens would strand a pair with a popup to reduce the damage.

Oklahoma pushed one across in the fourth via a HBP drawn by Snyder before putting up another crooked number in the fifth, scoring three runs on a Madron bases-clearing double.

Single runs would be scored in the bottom of the fifth and ninth by the Cougars and the Sooners pushed one across on a wild pitch in the eighth to bring the final score to 10-7.

The Sooners used six arms in the victory with senior Jett Lodes getting his first win of the season and second of his career in relief, striking out a pair in two scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit. Starting pitcher Stevens went two innings, allowing five runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Relievers James Hitt, Carson Atwood, Jace Miner and Malachi Witherspoon all combined to finish the game with Hitt fanning three and Atwood striking out one.

At the plate, Madron’s 3-for-4 day led OU while Snyder and freshman Isaiah Lane also registered multi-hit games.

The Sooners return to L. Dale Mitchell Park for a four-game homestand starting Tuesday vs. Wichita State. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and can be seen via SoonerVision on ESPN+. Next weekend, OU welcomes Red River rival Texas to Norman, April 26-28.

Single game tickets and mini-plan options for home games at L. Dale Mitchell Park are available viaSoonerSports.com/tickets.

COLUMBIA, South Carolina – No. 2 Arkansas (34-6, 14-4 SEC) split Saturday’s doubleheader against No. 20 South Carolina (27-13, 9-9 SEC), pulling out a 9-6 win in the finale at Founders Park to clinch its second SEC weekend road series of the season.

With their win in the night cap of Saturday’s doubleheader, Arkansas secured its fourth consecutive regular-season weekend series win against South Carolina. The Razorbacks have not lost a series to the Gameco*cks since 2016 and have now won six of the last seven regular-season weekend series against their SEC Eastern Division opponent.

Arkansas is now 14-4 through 18 games of SEC play for only the second time in program history and for the first time since 1999, when the Hogs finished with a 22-8 record in league play and claimed their first SEC overall championship.

Next, the Razorbacks head to North Little Rock for their annual midweek game at Dickey-Stephens Park, home of the Arkansas Travelers. First pitch between Arkansas and UAPB is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, on SEC Network+.

Game 1: #20 South Carolina 6, #2 Arkansas 3

Despite racking up 12 hits, Arkansas lost, 6-3, in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Three Razorbacks recorded multi-hit games in the loss, including Peyton Stovall (3-for-5, HR, RBI), Peyton Holt (2-for-5) and Ross Lovich (2-for-2).

South Carolina opened a two-run lead in the bottom of the second and never looked back, adding four more in the sixth to take control of the game. Arkansas scored in the fourth, seventh and ninth, but stranded 13 on base in the loss.

Junior left-hander Mason Molina lasted only 3.1 innings on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits and seven walks with three strikeouts in his outing. In relief of Molina, Parker Coil (2.0 IP, 2 SO) and Koty Frank (2.2 IP, 3 SO) combined for five strikeouts over 4.2 innings but were tagged for four runs on seven hits and one walk by the Gameco*ck offense.

Game 2: #2 Arkansas 9, #20 South Carolina 6

Brady Tygart turned in his second quality start of the season, and the Razorback offense posted crooked numbers in the third and seventh innings to pull out a hard-fought 9-6 win in game two of the doubleheader and clinch the series win.

Tygart struck out six over six innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and issuing two walks. The junior right-hander was staked with an early advantage, thanks to a three-run outburst by the Arkansas offense in the top of the second.

Parker Rowland’s two-out RBI double extended the Hogs’ lead to 3-0 in the second inning, providing Tygart with breathing room as he navigated the Gameco*ck lineup. When South Carolina cut its deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth, Arkansas answered a run in the sixth and five more in the seventh to open a commanding seven-run advantage.

Wehiwa Aloy (1-for-5, RBI), Kendall Diggs (2-for-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Holt (2-for-3, 2 RBI) each delivered run-scoring base knocks in the five-run seventh, as the Razorbacks mounted a 9-2 lead and swung the game’s momentum in their favor.

Tygart’s day was done after the Hogs’ productive seventh inning, and he turned the ball over to his bullpen to record the game’s final nine outs. Will McEntire (2.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 SO) and Gage Wood (1.0 IP, 1 ER, 1 SO) emerged in relief and did just enough to hold off South Carolina across the last three innings, securing Arkansas’ series-clinching 9-6 win.
